The scholarly profession

Shakespeare Association of America

I spearheaded the creation of the SAA’s first Graduate Committee. As Founding Chair, I worked with graduate students to establish the committee and gain Board approval, creating a permanent place for graduate representation within the association.

That work has included programming on participation in the profession: I organized and served as a panelist for “Navigating SAA as a Graduate Student” in February 2025 and organized and moderated a CV Review Panel in March 2026.

Opportunities for English majors

University of Mississippi

My appointment to the Department of English Alumni Council brought me into collaboration with fellow alumni to expand opportunities for English majors. Our work included donor fundraising initiatives, internships, career preparation, and mentorship programs.

I also established the Shamblin-Anderson Scholarship for English Majors, designing its application and selection process to support excellence in the major and recognize students who demonstrate its value in the modern world.

Graduate representation

University of Miami

As Vice President of the Graduate Student Association and a graduate representative on the Board of Trustees’ Academic Affairs Committee and the Faculty Senate, I advocated for graduate students and the humanities in university policy discussions.

My work in the Graduate Student Association also included chairing its Academic Affairs Committee and serving as Director of Operations.

As President of the University of Miami’s English Graduate Organization, I reintroduced professionalization programming. My service to the organization also included financial leadership and departmental representation.
